Pawtucket Red Sox News Release

The Pawtucket Red Sox received an outstanding start from Boston Red Sox LHP Wade Miley but it was not enough as the PawSox were blanked by the Rochester Red Wings, 1-0 on Tuesday afternoon in Fort Myers, FL. Rochester scored the game's only run in the top of the 1st-inning keyed in part by a throwing error by PawSox catcher Ryan Hanigan. That was the only blemish for Miley who went 7 strong innings allowing just 3 hits and the 1 run (which was unearned) with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Kyle Martin tossed the final two innings of scoreless relief.

Pawtucket mustered just three singles in the game. 2B Sean Coyle singled, stole second, but was stranded at 3rd-base in the 1st-inning. The Sox did not have another hit until the 8th-inning when catcher Michael Brenly, who replaced Hanigan, singled leading off the inning. Brenly added a two-out single in the bottom of the 9th-inning but never advanced past first base as the PawSox fell to 3-5-2 in spring training action.

Pawtucket travels to Sarasota, FL to take on the Norfolk Tides on Wednesday afternoon.
