Modesto, CA. - Sandber Pimentel's two home runs led the charge for the Stockton Ports offense as the Modesto Nuts fell 7-0 on Monday night at John Thurman Field.
Ashton Goudeau (L, 1-1) started for the Nuts (39-57; 9-17). He allowed a two-out, two-run double in the first. Another two-out tally crossed the plate in the second. Pimentel crushed his first home run in the third.
Goudeau worked five innings and allowed five runs on six hits with five strikeouts and five walks.
Pimentel's second home run came in the sixth. It was a two-run shot off reliever AJ Franks.
Danny Garcia and Austin Hutchison threw well out of the Nuts' bullpen after that facing the minimum in three innings with four combined strikeouts.
Ports (59-37; 15-11) starter Matt Millburn (W, 6-3) worked seven shutout innings. The righty allowed just five singles after retiring the first nine he faced.
Bryson Brigman recorded three of the Nuts' hits in his four at-bats.
