Mike Thibault Named August Coach of the Month

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Washington Mystics Head Coach Mike Thibault was named WNBA Coach of the Month for games played in August. Thibault was also named the league's coach of the month for June.
Under Thibault's leadership, Washington posted a league-best 9-2 record and clinched the first playoff spot of the 2019 season while reaching the best record in franchise history. In August, Washington went on a six-game winning streak and defeated the defending champion Seattle Storm, the Minnesota Lynx, the Los Angeles Sparks and the New York Liberty.
In August, Washington averaged 92.6 ppg, shot 48% from the field and 91.3% from the free throw line while averaging 22.0 apg. Mystics opponents averaged 77.5 ppg, 18.9 apg and shot 42.9% from the field.
Washington (24-8) will close out the regular season with home games against the Dallas Wings (10-21) on Sept. 6 and the Chicago Sky (19-13) on Sept. 8 for Fan Appreciation Night. Single game tickets for the remaining regular season games start at $12 and are currently on sale. Mystics single game tickets for the WNBA Semifinals at Entertainment & Sports Arena at Congress Heights starting on Sept. 17 will go on sale on Sept. 10, however fans can purchase a ticket package that includes all playoff games by calling 877-DC-HOOP-1 or emailing ticketsales@washmystics.com beginning on Friday, Sept. 6.
