Mike McCarthy to Join Blizzard as Honorary Captain

With "1265" just a short walk from the Resch Center, the reigning 2006 American Conference Champions have seen an outreach of support from former and current Packer players including Super Bowl running back Edgar Bennett and Pro Bowl center Larry McCarren who have already officiated as Honorary Captains this season.

Now the Green Bay Blizzard are pleased to have the Head Coach of the Green Bay Packers, Mike McCarthy, on hand as the honorary captain of tonight's game.

Hired on January 12th, 2006 as the 14th Head Coach in Green Bay Packer's history, McCarthy was hired for his ability to help young players develop and for his rich football background with an assortment teams.

McCarthy is a 13 year NFL coaching veteran as an assistant with the Kansas City Chiefs, the New Orleans Saints, the San Francisco 49ers, as well as a year as an assistant coach with the Packers in '99 in charge of Quarterbacks.

Going in to Week 8 of the af2 season, the Blizzard is in first place in the Midwest Division. The Blizzard look to improve their record when they face division-foe Cincinnati Jungle Kats at US Cellular Field at the Resch Center. Coming off a stellar defensive performance against the Tri-Cities Fever, the Blizzard's number one ranked defense looks to do more of the same this Friday against the Jungle Kats. The Blizzard defense is ranked first in scoring defense (33.5), passing yards allowed (185.0), rushing yards allowed (10.5) and total yards allowed (195.5).

Come join Packer's Head Coach Mike McCarthy and the Green Bay Blizzard on Friday, May 18th as the team takes on the expansion Cincinnati Jungle Kats. The Blizzard will present the second graduating class of Bruiser's Reading Club sponsored by US Cellular. Local elementary schools participated in the reading program to help promote literacy amongst Northeast Wisconsin's youth.
