Manchester Wolves News Release
The Manchester Wolves, New Hampshire's professional arenafootball2 team, will be looking for their first road win of the season when they travel down to Louisiana to take on the 5-1 Battle Wings on Friday, May 18 at 8:30 p.m. at the CenturyTel Center in Bossier City.
The Battle Wings, who have won only 11 games in their last three seasons, are currently riding their franchise's best start since they've arrived to the af2 in 2001. Part of the reason for the team's newfound success are the new additions of former NFL quarterback Quincy Carter (1,597 yards, 34 touchdowns, 5 interceptions) and two former Wolves' Jamaal Perry (team-high 49 receptions, 649 yards, 12 touchdowns) and Marc Bacote (6 receptions, 42 yards, two touchdowns and 10.5 tackles, 1 interception for touchdown, 1 fumble recovery).
Perry (5'9, 180), a two-year veteran, and Bacote (6'5, 218), a four-year veteran, both played for the Wolves during the 2005 and 2006 seasons.
"Both Jamaal and Marc are good players and great friends," said Wolves Head Coach Ben Bennett on Perry and Bacote. "I'm glad to see that they are having success in Bossier, it'll be strange seeing them lined up on the opposing side."
The Wolves will be looking for their first road win of the year as they have lost all three of their match ups with two losses in Wilkes-Barre Scranton, to the Pioneers, and one loss in Green Bay, to the Blizzard. The "Battle in the Bayou" will be first time either franchise has faced off against each other.
Manchester is entering the game coming off of its sixth straight home win after a 53-48 victory over their East Division rival Albany Conquest on Brady Sullivan Field last Friday, while Bossier is coming off of its first loss, a 50-64 losing effort against the Arkansas Twisters last Saturday. The Battle Wings have won all three of their home games this season.
