Manchester Wolves News Release

Ever wonder how a football player, a dance team member and two sports reporters would fair doing a "ballroom-styled" routine? Well tonight at 11 p.m. on WMUR Channel 9, an ABC affiliate, you'll be able to see for yourself.

Wolves' international player Jesse Tupper teamed up WMUR's Naoko Funyama while WMUR's Jason King matched up with Lady Wolf Pack member Maria Salanitro to form two talented dancing duos. Both teams were given a 45-minute "ballroom-styled" lesson, to learn a two-minute routine that was choreographed by Lady Wolf Pack Coordinator Michelle Gagnon.

"It was definitely a fun experience, all the participants were more then eager to learn and compete with each other," said Gagnon, a Manchester native. "I think I may have also found three future additions to the dance team next year in Jesse, Jason and Naoko as they sure can shimmy, shake and body roll with the best of them!"

The King/Salanitro duo will air for the first time tonight while the Tupper/Funayama pair will air tomorrow at 11 p.m. on WMUR. Both teams will then put their skills to the test when they face off for the first time, in front of a panel of selected judges, the date and time for the finals has yet to be determined. Both segments were taped at Dance Visions Network in Manchester, N.H.

"Michelle was great, she made it so easy for us," said Funayama on her dancing experience. "It's more similar to football then you might think; learn complicated patterns, drill, repeat until it comes naturally. I think my partner (Jesse) might be discovered after this airs!"

Since "Dancing with the Stars", a reality show that pairs a professional dancer with a celebrity, hit television sets around the nation in 2005 it has been one of ABC's biggest hits. The show, which is currently in its fourth season (airs tonight at 8 p.m. with the results show on tomorrow at 9 p.m.), has grossed more then 14 million viewers each season.
