April 22, 2008 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Greenville Drive News Release

Greenville, S.C. - The number 13 isn't unlucky for the Drive's Mike Jones. That's how many consecutive games the first baseman/designated hitter has recorded a hit, with multiple hits in the last nine games. Its numbers like those which garnered Jones the South Atlantic League's Player-of-the-Week honors for April 14th - 20th.

During the week long span, Jones batted a league best .567 (17-for-30) with a home run, eight RBI, and nine runs scored. His hit total, runs scored, and on-base percentage (.618) led all Sally League batters in that time, while his eight RBI were tied for the league lead.

On the season Jones ranks first in the league with a .419 batting average and a .486 on-base percentage. Those numbers are 14th and 10th in all of Minor League Baseball, respectively, as well. In addition, his 26 hits and 13 RBI lead the Drive.

Jones has also proven to be the Drive's most clutch hitters in the early going of 2008, batting .524 (11-for-21) and 10 RBI with runners in scoring position.

Signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Boston Red Sox in 2005, Jones owns a career .321 batting average (185-for-577) with 16 home runs, 95 RBI, and 90 runs scored in 159 games over three-plus seasons.
