
Mihalik And O'Donoghue Make College Commitments

Des Moines Buccaneers News Release
Head Coach Mike Guentzel and General Manager & Director of Hockey Operations J.P. Parise announced today that goalie Eric Mihalik and forward Dan O'Donoghue have made college commitments.
Eric Mihalik has committed to Colgate University. Mihalik has minded the net for the Buccaneers in 20 games and currently has a 7-9-1 record with a GAA of 3.96 and a SV% of.884. The 6'1", 180 lbs goalie started the season off with a shut out win against the Sioux Falls Stampede, stopping 43 of 36 shots on goal. The Avon Lake, Ohio native is expected to play for Colgate in the Fall of 2010.
Colgate is a Division I school in the ECAC conference. The team is currently 7-8-4 overall and 5-3-1 in the ECAC. The team is coached by Don Vaughan.
Dan O'Donoghue has committed to Mercyhurst College. O'Donoghue has appeared in 30 games for the Buccaneers and has a total of 4 goals, 2assists and 40 penalty minutes. The 6'4", 200 lbs forward scored his first USHL goal on October 17th in Youngstown, Ohio. The Port Jefferson Station, NY native is expected to play for Mercyhurst in the Fall of 2010.
Mercyhurst College is a Division I school in the Atlantic Hockey Conference. The team is currently 9-11-2 overall and 9-5-2 in the Atlantic Hockey Conference. The team is coached by Rick Gotkin. Former Buccaneer and Des Moines native, Derek Elliott currently plays for Mercyhurst.
With the addition of these two commitments, the Des Moines Buccaneers now have 12 players committed to Division I schools.
