Mighty Marty re-signs with Blazers

Oklahoma City - The Oklahoma City Blazers of the Central Hockey League signed veteran forward Marty Standish, the club's front office announced today.

Standish, a 5-7, 165-pound native of Kelvington, Saskatchewan, is entering his ninth season as a pro, his seventh in Oklahoma City. Last season, Standish was second on the club in scoring with 56 points (19-37-56) and penalty minutes with 162.

Last season, Standish etched his name further into the Blazers record books, becoming just the third player in franchise history to record 400 points. He enters the 07-08 ranked no worse than fifth in every offensive category in Blazers franchise history including: second in goals (176) and short-handed goals (14), third in assists (229), points (405), game-winning goals (27), shots (1,599) and penalty minutes (1,027), fourth in power-play goals (49) and fifth in games played (377) and +/- rating (+73).

"Marty is a one of a kind player," said Blazers head coach Doug Sauter. "He is one of our fastest players and without a doubt, one of our most competitive players. I know I can count on Marty to contribute and compete throughout the season."

Standish is the first player officially signed by the Blazers for the 2007-08 season. He is also the first veteran player signed for the 07-08 campaign. Each CHL team is permitted to carry four players with 280-or-more games of professional experience.

Season tickets for the Blazers 16th season of play in the Central Hockey League are currently available. Sweet season 16 of Blazers hockey begins October 19.
