Cincinnati RailRaiders News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio â The Cincinnati Mighty Ducks, in conjunction with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, announced Thursday that the Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim will serve as home ice for three of Cincinnati's regular-season games in November and December. Anaheim is Cincinnati's National Hockey League affiliate.
Cincinnati will play Wednesday, November 24 against the Grand Rapids Griffins, along with two games against the Edmonton Road Runners Friday, December 17 and Saturday, December 18 at the Arrowhead Pond. The three games were scheduled to take place at Cincinnati Gardens.
The November 24 game in Anaheim will begin at 10:30 p.m. EST, with the December 18 game starting at 8:00 p.m. EST. The start time for the December 17 game is yet to be determined.
"These games will provide the hockey fans in Southern California with a first-hand look at the future faces of the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim," Ducks president and CEO Pete Robinson said. "It's a unique opportunity that allows Cincinnati and Anaheim to expand on our partnership."
Season-ticket holders will have several options to choose from to compensate for the three home games that are being moved to Anaheim.
"We realize that our season-ticket holders will be disappointed that three games are being moved into our National Hockey League affiliate's venue," Robinson said. "At the same time, we hope that our fans can understand the opportunity this represents for our organization."
Fans interested in traveling to Anaheim to watch Cincinnati play Edmonton December 17 and December 18 will be offered discounted airfare, hotel, transportation and tickets to the games through AAA Travel. Details of the package will be announced at a later date.
Cincinnati is in its eighth season as Anaheim's primary player development club. Twelve players on Anaheim's 2003-04 season-ending roster had played in Cincinnati during their career.
The AHL Ducks' 2004-05 season-opening roster consists of four players selected by Anaheim in the first round of an NHL Entry Draft. The four first-round picks are right wing Michael Holmqvist (18th overall in 1997); center Alexei Smirnov (12th overall in 2000); left wing Stanislav Chistov (fifth overall in 2001); and right wing Joffrey Lupul (seventh overall in 2002).
The Ducks also announced Thursday their game originally scheduled for Thursday, November 4 in Rochester has been moved to Friday, November 5 at HSBC Arena in Buffalo, home of Rochester's NHL affiliate, the Buffalo Sabres. Start time is 7:05 p.m.
