Midweek in the Midwest: First-Ever Real Salt Lake Trip to St. Louis for Matchday 20 on Wednesday

HERRIMAN, Utah - Real Salt Lake (6-7-5, 23 pts., 8th West) continues yet another three-game week - its seventh in the last eight - Wednesday at CITY Park against St. Louis City SC (9-6-2, 29 pts., 1st West), with Head Coach Pablo Mastroeni's side unbeaten in 13 of its last 15 (eight wins, five draws) since April 22, a run which includes eight consecutive road results across both MLS and U.S. Open Cup play. The match marks RSL's maiden voyage to St. Louis, the 2023 expansion side which handed the Utah side its second-worst-ever home loss back in March, a 4-0 decision at America First Field that saw STL score all four in the second half as part of RSL's four-game early-season losing streak.

RSL will make this trip without a quartet of internationals, as FW Jefferson Savarino (Venezuela), FW Rubio Rubin (Guatemala), FW Anderson Julio (Ecuador) and MF Braian Ojeda (Paraguay) each have been called away. Real Salt Lake (6-7-5, 23 pts., 8th West) - the League's top road team with 14 points earned (tied with Orlando) in nine away matches to this point - travels to St. Louis Wednesday seeking its first-ever win at CITY Park, buoyed by the Club's recent road form, which has seen RSL amass 13 road points in its last five away contests, with League wins at D.C. United (Saturday, 2-1), Austin (June 3, 2-1) and Colorado (May 20, 3-2), along with a draw at Minnesota (May 27, 1-1) and an Open Cup win at Colorado (May 24, 1-0).

Since April 8, RSL has recorded nine wins, three losses and five draws in its last 17 games across multiple competitions, while this weekend's upcoming home match against Minnesota will conclude a slate of schedule congestion of 17 games in 62 days across MLS and Open Cup action, during which Mastroeni and the RSL staff have used 26 different players.
