Kalamazoo Wings News Release

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings of the United Hockey League announce that the Michigan Public Relations Association (MPRA) has honored the K-Wings with their Commendable Achievement Award.

The K-Wings were nominated for the award by the Kalamazoo Public Schools for last season's KPS Game. Last year, the K-Wings were the first team in the UHL to host an educational matinee day. With the success of the KPS Game, the K-Wings have scheduled two matinee games this season, one with KPS and a second educational day that will feature many of the districts from around southwest Michigan.

"We are extremely honored to receive this award," said Vice President/General Manager Paul L. Pickard. "While receiving the Commendable Achievement Award is outstanding; however, the real reward was at last year's KPS Game watching the kids enjoying their experience and having them leave the game with a new appreciation for the sport of hockey and a love for the K-Wings."

The Kalamazoo Wings were one of nearly one-hundred nominated for the Annual School Communication Contest. The Commendable Achievement Award is the highest award offered by the MPRA.

For more information about the K-Wings MPRA Commendable Achievement Award, please contact either Director of Public Relations/Broadcaster Mike Modugno at (269) 349-9772, extension 220.
