Michigan Panthers News Release

DETROIT, Michigan - The Michigan Panthers announced on Wednesday that multiple members of the team will make community appearances on Friday, May 17 ahead of the final regular-season game at Ford Field. In the home finale, the Panthers will host the Memphis Showboats on Saturday, May 18 at 4 p.m. ET.

Marcus Green, who serves as the Cornerstone Lincoln-King High School head coach, will lead a football skills camp, that four Michigan players will take part in. Green started the football program that he is currently coaching and strives to improve as a former D1 football player and first-time head coach. A promising D-Tackle, he was set to join the line at Penn State University until doctors discovered a benign pituitary brain tumor, which would cut his athletic career short. Still, Green pursued a career in sports, even if it meant using his skill set off the field. After receiving his bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism from Penn State, he worked at ESPN, ABC News and the former Chicago-based digital college sports network, Campus Insiders. The four players who will take part in the skills camp with the Cornerstone School District are Gunnar Oakes (TE), Nate Brooks (CB), Josh Dunlop (OL) and Corrion Ballard (S). The event will take place at Washington-Parks Academy ( 11685 Appleton Ave, Redford Charter Twp, MI 48239) from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. ET and is open to kids of all ages.

Head Coach Mike Nolan and select players will visit the Fisher House (2215 Fuller Court, Bldg 36) in Ann Arbor, Michigan from approximately 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. ET. The Fisher House Foundation builds comfort homes where military & veterans' families can stay free of charge, while a loved one is in the hospital. Ninety-Six of these homes are located at military and VA medical centers around the world.

Finally, the team will have representatives at the Detroit Zoo's Zoo Brew from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. ET. Marcus Simms (WR), Breeland Speaks (DE) and Javin White (LB) will be in attendance to take photos, sign autographs and interact with fans during the Zoo's first after-hours event of the year. General admission to the event is $60 with VIP passes priced for $95 and more information can be found here: https://detroitzoo.org/events/zoo-events/zoo-brew/

Please note all players are subject to change and the events are weather permitting.

During the season the Panthers have put on multiple events to engage with the community, starting with a meet and greet appearance at Dick's Sporting Goods and a visit to the Downtown Boxing Gym in Week 1. Members of the team also visited a Detroit Fire Station, specifically Engine House 40, during Week 3. The team also hosted a season ticket meet-and-greet at Kudos in Taylor, Michigan ahead of the Panthers Week 6 game. Photos and videos of all these community events can be found here .
