Michigan Erases Deficit to Stun Port Huron, 4-3

The Michigan Warriors rallied from two goals down to secure a 4-3 win over the Port Huron Fighting Falcons.

Michigan let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Warriors took a 3-2 advantage on a goal by Cody Kuster at 2:57 in the third period. Michigan found itself down 2-0 after Port Huron's Alex Archibald put the puck home on the power play at 9:24 in the second period. After knotting things up at 3-3 on a goal by Jonathan Kopacka at 12:44 in the third, the Warriors got the game-winner from Joshua Shellman at 19:48 in the third period.

Zack Szajner had a great game for Michigan, netting two goals. Szajner's tallies came on the power play at 11:37 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Port Huron and on the power play 19:54 into the second to make the score 2-2.

Michigan also got points from Shellman, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Michigan came via Jake Faiella, Mitchell Wedding, Colin Larkin, Colin Horton, Cody Lichtenvoort, and Tyler Groat, who each chipped in one.

The Fighting Falcons' defensemen played well offensively, producing two goals while racking up 11 shots.

Port Huron was led by Mitch Maloney, who finished with one goal and one assist. Maloney scored 7:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Port Huron. Vito Aluia picked up the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Port Huron were Nick Le Sage and Bryan Yim, who contributed one a piece.

Trevor Gorsuch made 24 saves for the Warriors on 27 shots. Michigan incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Max Milosek rejected 23 shots on goal for the Fighting Falcons. Port Huron incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
