DANVILLE, Va. - Pitcher Michael Flores was honored Wednesday with the Appalachian League Pitcher of the Week Award for 7/8-7/14, making him the first D-Brave to receive a weekly honor this season.

Flores earned the award with a dominant start July 9th, in which he threw six scoreless innings against the Bristol White Sox to pick up his first win of the season. The lefty allowed just one hit while walking only two batters and striking out seven. Danville used a big third inning, combined with runs in the seventh, eighth, and ninth to win 7-3.

Flores has pitched well for Danville this year, posting a 1-1 record with a 3.92 ERA. He has allowed just 12 hits in his 20.2 innings pitched. Flores' calling card is his abilities to miss bats, evident by his 28 strikeouts this season. The 28 k's rank him fourth in the league, just three behind Pulaski's Edwin Diaz.

Danville begins a five game series due to two doubleheaders against the Kingsport Mets. The D-Braves will then travel to face Elizabethton before returning home for a series with the Bluefield Blue Jays.
