Miami FC News Release
Miami, Fla. - The Miami Football Club defeated Eastern Conference heads Louisville City FC 1-0 at FIU Stadium Saturday night.
The Orange and Blue snapped the Boys in Purple's 10-game undefeated streak. Now, Miami FC is four points away from fifth-place Birmingham Legion, who play New York Red Bulls 2 on Sunday.
Starting XI vs. Louisville City FC
Head Coach Anthony Pulis made one change in Saturday night's lineup. The 38-year-old introduced Reggae boy Lamar Walker for winger Richard Ballard, who came off with an injury against Hartford Athletic last weekend.
Striker Kyle Murphy notched his seventh goal of the season after just four minutes of play. Attacking midfielder Florian Valot sent a lofted through-ball for Murphy to chase. The 29-year-old managed to stay on his feet despite tussling with a defender on his way toward the goal and released a shot that went past goalkeeper Kyle Morton.
Goalkeeper Connor Sparrow and his defense took charge for the remainder of the game. The 28-year-old keeper made five saves, including a couple that got fans off their feet.
Sparrow's efforts in goal and Miami's sound defensive performance were enough to secure three points at home. The shutout is the team's third straight, and sixth in its previous eight outings.
