February 25, 2022 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Miami FC News Release
Weston, Fla. - The three age groups that represented the Miami Football Club Academy at the Weston Cup over the weekend remained undefeated, with two bringing silverware back home.
Head coach Felipe Soto, who oversees the U15 and U16 age groups, won the Weston Cup Bronze (Red) divisions with both teams.
The U15s had a flawless showing at the tournament, topping their group after winning all three matches and defeating hosts Weston FC U15 Boys Blue 1-0 in the final. The U16s also led their group, claiming two wins and one draw. As a result, they clinched a spot in the final and took down CBF School Boca Raton 2006 by a score of 2-1 to lift the trophy Monday night.
Led by manager Giovanni Morella, the U14s performed well at Weston during the long weekend. The team won one game and drew the other two. However, only the first-place team from the three-team groups advanced to the final, meaning that the team was knocked out early despite not losing a game.
All in all, the Miami FC is thankful and proud of the players, families and coaches who were vital in what the age groups accomplished during the weekend.
