St. Lucie Mets News Release

VERO BEACH, Fla. - Three St. Lucie pitchers combined for a dominant performance in a 4-0 Mets win over the Brevard County Manatees on Friday night.

The contest was the Third Annual Jackie Robinson Celebration Game at Holman Stadium in Historic Dodgertown. The Mets have now won the contest in back-to-back years.

Starting pitcher Corey Oswalt and relievers Kevin McGowan and Josh Edgin struck out 16 batters. Oswalt fanned nine over six innings. He allowed four hits and one walk on his way to his first Florida State League win.

Oswalt struck out the side in the first inning and he capped the sixth with two straight strikeouts with runners on first and second.

McGowan whiffed five of the first six hitters he faced.

Edgin, rehabbing from Tommy John Surgery, was brought in with one out in the ninth. He struck out both batters he faced to end the game.

The Mets scored all the runs they needed in the fourth. With Amed Rosario on third base and two out, John Mora stole second. Catcher Dustin Houle faked the throw to second and instead threw wildly to third base, allowing Rosario to score. As the ball sailed into left field, Mora continued to run and he scored to make it 2-0.

A Patrick Biondi sac fly in the seventh made it 3-0. Jhoan Urena bashed his first FSL homer with two outs in the ninth to provide an insurance run.
