Marauders Fall to Lakeland 8-4

Bradenton, FL-- The Bradenton Marauders (3-6) collected 11 hits and hurled 13 strikeouts, but the visiting Lakeland Flying Tigers (4-5) won the series opener 8-4 on Friday night at McKechnie Field. RHP Yeudy Garcia (L, 0-1) struck out six over three innings, but allowed three runs on five hits, including a first inning two-run homer to Christin Stewart.
Major League rehabber Daniel Norris started for Lakeland and limited the Marauders to two runs on seven hits over four innings. Bradenton plated runs in the second and third innings to trim an early 3-0 deficit to 3-2. The Marauders nearly tied the score in the fourth, but C Tomas Morales was thrown out at the plate on CF Elvis Escobar's single.
A.J. Ladwig (W, 2-0) pitched four innings for Lakeland following Norris to earn the win. Ladwig struck out three and did not walk a batter.
