
Mets Knock off the Miracle, 7-4

ST. LUCIE, FL - The St. Lucie Mets defeated the Fort Myers Miracle, 7-4, in the first game of the second half at Tradition Field on Thursday evening.
The Mets put up four runs in the third inning off Miracle starter B.J. Hermsen. Eudy Pina led off with a single into right, then stole second base. Gavin Cecchini then doubled to left to score Pina. Cecchini moved to third on a passed ball and Jeff McNeil walked to put runners on the corners. L.J. Mazzilli then sent a deep fly over the fence in left field for a three-run homer, 4-0.
Fort Myers got on the board in the fourth inning. Travis Harrison extended his hitting streak to 12 games with his team-leading 18th double into left. A ground out by Lance Ray moved Harrison to third and Walker lifted a fly ball to left to drive in a run with a sacrifice fly, 4-1.
St. Lucie added three more runs off Miracle reliever Alex Wimmers. With two on, Eudy Pina tripled down the left field line to score two and then touched home on a sacrifice fly by Gavin Cecchini, 7-1.
Max Kepler shaved the Mets lead by two with his third home run of the season in the top of the seventh. Mets starter Gabriel Ynoa plunked Nate Roberts with two outs. Then, Kepler sent a low liner over the wall in right field, 7-3. Jairo Rodriguez continued the rally with a double down the left field line and Aderling Mejia sent a ground ball through the right side to plate Rodriguez and cut the St. Lucie advantage to three.
Hermsen (0-1) took the loss in his first start of the season, allowing four runs on four hits in three innings. Alex Wimmers pitched in long relief for the Miracle and allowed three runs on five hits in three innings. Mason Melotakis and Steven Gruver each pitched scoreless innings.
Ynoa (8-2) earned his FSL-leading eighth win going 6.2 innings with four runs given up on seven hits with five strikeouts.
The Miracle (41-29, 0-1) continue a three-game set with St. Lucie (41-29, 1-0) on Friday at 6:30 p.m. Tim Shibuya is slated to start for the Miracle against Michael Fulmer for the Mets.
