BRADENTON, Fla. - The Bradenton Marauders beat the St. Lucie Mets 8-3 in the series opener at LECOM Park on Monday.

Wuilmer Becerra gave the Mets a 2-0 lead in the first inning with a two-run homer, but the Marauders would score the next eight runs.

The game turned in the fourth inning when Jhoan Urena committed two errors at third base that led to three unanswered runs. A ground ball by Danny Arribas with two outs went between Urena's legs and let in two runs to break a 2-2 tie.

The Marauders added four more runs in the seventh to go up 8-2. Logan Hill hit a two-run double in the inning.

Mets starter Justin Dunn took a tough luck loss. He held the Marauders to one earned run (four total) over 5.1 innings.

The Mets couldn't muster much offense against Marauders starter Taylor Hearn, who was throwing 98 mph from the left side. Hearn only allowed one hit outside of Becerra's home run. He pitched six innings and struck out eight.

Patrick Mazeika belted a RBI double in the eighth. It was Mazeika's fifth double in the last five games.

Bradenton's Cole Tucker went 2 for 3 and reached base four times. He set a single game record for the Marauders with four stolen bases.

The Mets have now lost 11 straight games in Bradenton dating back to 2016. The Marauders have won all four games the teams have played this season.

The Mets (10-15) face the Marauders (14-11) again at LECOM Park on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
