
Mets End Road Trip with 7-2 Loss to Mud Hens on Sunday

Toledo, OH - The Syracuse Mets finished their weeklong road trip with a 7-2 loss to the Toledo Mud Hens on Sunday night at Fifth Third Field. With the loss, the Mets finish the road trip with a 5-2 record.
Toledo (45-55) started the scoring in the bottom of the first inning. With one out, Dawel Lugo tripled. Willi Castro followed with an RBI single for a 1-0 lead.
The Mud Hens added another run in the second. Victor Reyes led off with a double, and Dustin Peterson singled to put runners at first and third base. Pete Kozma then grounded into a double play, but Reyes scored for a 2-0 edge.
In the fourth, the Mud Hens broke the game open. Ronny Rodriguez doubled to lead off the inning. Syracuse starting pitcher Drew Gagnon retired the next two batters, but he walked Pete Kozma and Daz Cameron to load the bases. Jake Rogers then hit a grand slam to left-center field for a 6-0 Toledo advantage.
Syracuse (50-50) got on the board in the fifth. Arismendy Alcantara walked, and Rymer Liriano singled. Alcantara moved to third base on a fly out and then scored on a Colton Plaia sacrifice fly to make it a 6-1 ballgame.
The Mets scored again in the sixth. Grégor Blanco led off the inning with a triple and scored on a Rubén Tejada groundout to the right side, pulling Syracuse within four, 6-2.
Toledo scored the game's final run in the eighth inning. With Reyes at third and Kozma at first, Cameron doubled to score Reyes for a 7-2 Mud Hens advantage.
Syracuse has an off day on Monday before starting a six-day homestand with the first game of a three-game series against the Indianapolis Indians on Tuesday night. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
