St. Lucie Mets News Release

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - The St. Lucie Mets responded to their worse loss in seven seasons by clobbering the Brevard County Manatees 9-4 on Monday at Tradition Field.

The Mets lost 13-0 on Sunday, their largest margin of defeat since they lost 19-4 to the Fort Myers Miracle on May 14, 2009. On Monday, the Mets quickly moved past that by setting a season high with nine runs and 16 hits.

Every man in the lineup had a hit. Seven players drove in runs and seven players scored a run. Champ Stuart led the way, going 3 for 4 with a triple, walk, run and stolen base. He went 7 for 14 in the four-game series.

Luis Guillorme, John Mora, Wuilmer Becerra, Jhoan Urena and Patrick Biondi had two hit games.

The game was back and forth early. Then with the score 3-3 in the fourth, Stuart tripled and Guillorme brought him in with a single. Biondi's two-out single to left in the fifth made it 5-3.

Amed Rosario was the last Met to get a hit but it was worth the wait. He tripled to left field in the sixth to drive in Guillorme and make it 7-3.

Back-to-back two out RBI singles in the eighth by Becerra and Urena capped the scoring.

Mets starter Casey Delgado improved to 2-0 in two starts. He tossed 7.1 innings, which is the longest outing of the season by a Mets pitcher. Delgado scattered seven hits and allowed four runs, three earned.

Kevin McGowan got the final five outs to get his first save.
