FORT MYERS, Fla. (August 13, 2014) - The St. Lucie Mets and Fort Myers Miracle split a doubleheader on Wednesday at JetBlue Park.

The Mets coasted to a 6-1 victory in game 1 while the Miracle scored six runs with two outs in the third inning of game 2 to win 7-3.

Fulmer struck out five and walked two. He gave up five hits.

At the plate, Jared King went 4 for 4 with three singles, a double and an RBI.

The Mets knocked around Miracle starter Brett Lee, who threw a complete game shutout against the Mets on Friday at Tradition Field.

Lee was tagged for eight hits and five runs, all earned, in just 3 1/3 innings.

Phil Evans opened the scoring in the first with a two-out single that plated Gavin Cecchini. The Mets added two more in the second on an RBI double by Maikis De La Cruz and a sac fly by Cecchini.

Beck Wheeler struck out the side in the seventh to end the game.

In game 2, the Mets were up 2-1 in the third and starter Kevin McGowan quickly got the first two outs in the bottom of the inning. However, Dalton Hicks' liner to first tipped off the top of Cole Frenzel's glove and went into right for a single. That opened the flood gates.

The Miracle went on to score six runs on five hits and three walks to take a commanding 7-2 lead.

Adam Brett Walker followed Hicks' single with one of his own. McGowan walked Max Kepler to load the bases and then walked Jason Kanzler to force home the tying run.

Jairo Rodriguez then singled home two runs to make it 4-2. McGowan walked Tyler Grimes to reload the bases and was removed.

Ryan Fraser was brought in and he allowed all three inherited runners to score on a two-run single by Aderling Mejia and another base hit by Goodrum.

De La Cruz added a late RBI hit for the Mets in the seventh to close out the scoring.

McGowan, who limited the Miracle to one run on three hits in 6 2/3 innings on Friday, was tagged for seven runs on five hits and five walks in just 2 2/3 innings.

Four Miracle pitchers combined to limit the Mets to three runs and eight hits. Alex Muran got the win. He induced two inning-ending double play balls and did not give up a run in 2 2/3 innings.

Cam Maron and Mazzilli had two-hit games for the Mets.

Jeff McNeil extended his hitting streak to 12 games with a single in the third.

The Mets (67-53, 27-24) and Miracle (71-51, 30-23) conclude their season series with one regularly scheduled nine inning game on Thursday. First pitch at JetBlue Park is at 7:05 p.m.
