PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (August 11, 2014) - The Bradenton Marauders rallied from a 4-0 deficit to stun the St. Lucie Mets 5-4 on a soggy Monday night at Tradition Field.

The Mets loss, coupled with Charlotte's win over Jupiter, drops St. Lucie to fifth place in the Florida State League South Division. The Mets are also now 5.5 games behind first place Bradenton.

The Mets went 2-4 on their six-game home stand and now face a nine-day, 11-game road trip at Fort Myers, Bradenton and Charlotte starting Tuesday.

On Monday, the Mets got off to a fast start. Daisuke Matsuzaka, making a rehab start, pitched three scoreless innings and gave up just one hit. He struck out three and retired the last nine batters he faced.

Matsuzaka threw 39 pitches, 27 for strikes.

In the bottom of the third, L.J. Mazzilli tagged John Kuchno for a two-run double to put the Mets up 2-0. That would be the last play for a while, as a rain delayed the game for over two hours.

When play resumed, Jared King belted a two-out, two-run double off of Pat Ludwig to give the Mets a 4-0 lead.

However, reliever Tim Peterson couldn't hold the lead in the fourth. The Marauders loaded the bases with two outs and Jacob Stallings hit a three-run doubled to make it 4-3. Justin Maffei followed with an RBI double to right to tie it 4-4.

Peterson breezed threw the next two innings but ran into trouble in the fifth. Again, Stallings doubled, this time as the leadoff man. He moved to third on Maffei's single and came home on Adam Frazier's sac fly to put the Marauders ahead 5-4.

The one scoring opportunity the Mets had after the third inning was snagged away. Cam Maron blasted a Ludwig pitch to center with two outs and two on in the seventh, but Maffei tracked it down and held on after bouncing off the wall.

Jhondaniel Medina worked a clean eighth and Yhonathan Barrios pitched a perfect ninth to earn his sixth save in eight games for Bradenton.

Ludwig earned the win, while Peterson took the loss.

In the defeat, Jeff McNeil extend his hitting streak to 10 games.

Stallings ended up going 5 for 7 in the series. He entered the series batting below .200.

The Mets (64-52, 24-23) will try to regroup on Tuesday when they visit the Fort Myers Miracle at JetBlue Park, the spring training home of the Boston Red Sox. Hammond Stadium is undergoing extensive renovations.

The Mets and the Miracle will resume their game that was suspending on June 26 at 5:05 p.m. The Miracle lead 3-2 with the Mets batting in the fifth. The teams will play a seven-inning contest immediately following.
