MetroStars Continue Road Trip to US Midwest

January 25, 2019 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
Mississauga MetroStars News Release

The Mississauga MetroStars resume their extended road trip this weekend with two games in the US Midwest, stopping first in Milwaukee Saturday night to take on the MASL's South Central Division leaders, the Wave at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena (kickoff 8:05pm ET), and then travelling onto to Kansas City where, Sunday afternoon, they will face the second place Comets at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena (kickoff 5:05pm ET).

? ?The MetroStars (2-7), currently third in the Eastern Division, kicked off the road trip last week in Baltimore, losing to the hometown Blast 14-6. Mississauga midfielder Marco Rodriguez, who paced the MetroStars to an early 2-0 lead in the game, netted two goals and three assists in the losing effort to earn an honourable mention in MASL Team of the Week voting.

? ?Meanwhile, both Milwaukee (8-2) and Kansas City (5-5) played twice last weekend, both splitting their games. In a two-game swing through Florida, the Wave earned a 10-9 win over Florida Tropics last Saturday night before dropping a 7-4 decision to the Orlando SeaWolves on Monday. Canadian Ian Bennett led the Wave with three goals in the victory over the Tropics.

? ?Kansas City lost 8-5 to division rival St Louis Ambush last Friday night at home before rebounding for a 9-6 win over Utica City FC on Sunday. A four-point performance from James Togbah in that game paced the Comets to the victory and earned the defender a selection to the MASL Team of the Week for Week 8.

? ?The MetroStars are facing both the Wave and the Comets for the second time this season, having hosted both teams at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre earlier this season. Mississauga dropped a 12-6 decision to the Comets back on December 13 and were handed an 8-2 defeat by the Wave on January 5.

? ?Co-Captains Dwayne De Rosario and Adrian Cann are listed as doubtful for the weekend while Alen Kucalovic is questionable. Meanwhile, midfielder Luis Rocha has come off the injured list and will be part of the 15-man squad travelling to the Midwest today while reserve Goalkeeper Spyros Stergiotis has been moved to the inactive list.

? ?The MetroStars meet the Milwaukee Wave Saturday at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena, with kickoff set for 8:05pm (ET). Mississauga will then face the Kansas City Comets Sunday afternoon at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena with kickoff at 5:05pm ET. Both matches will be live streamed on MASL.tv at maslsoccer.com.

? ?The MetroStars' next home game is Friday, February 15 when they take on the Baltimore Blast at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre at 7:35pm (ET).
