
Merrill selected first overall by Portland in NLL entry draft

The Portland LumberJax selected defenseman Brodie Merrill out of Georgetown University with the first overall selection in the 2005 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft. Merrill was a standout collegiate defenseman who hails from Orangeville, ON. Brodie and his brother Patrick are the first two brothers in league history to be selected first overall in the league's Entry Draft. Patrick, also a defenseman, was selected by the Toronto Rock with the first overall selection in the 2002 Entry Draft.
