Moncton Wildcats News Release
Moncton, NB - The Moncton Coliseum will be a full house for all games of the 2006 Master Card Memorial Cup which starts on May 19th. The opening game will feature the host team Moncton Wildcats against the Ontario Hockey League Champions. The Western Hockey League champions and a second team from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League will also compete for the national championship.
"The status of Memorial Cup tickets is that we're virtually sold out," said Wildcats General Manager Bill Schurman. "Between the Canadian Hockey League, our season ticket holders, who very quickly bought up the allocation we had for them and the corporate sponsors, we will have a full house for every game. The only exception is that we have been allowed by the Fire Marshall to sell 400 standing room ticket packages, 300 of which are now on sale. We've already sold 100 of these packages at $375.00 for the entire tournament. We expect the remaining tickets will be sold, long before the first puck drops, assuring us of a complete sell out for every game."
For those interested in purchasing remaining standing room packages, they should contact the Wildcats office at 506-858-5555.
For hockey fans that will not be able to see the game live, arrangements are being made to have the games available at the Molson Fan Fest in Hall A of the Coliseum complex. "We expect to have space for at least 1000 people to watch the game on big screens. You'll be able to hear the roar of the crowd, you'll be in the same complex, and you'll be able to feel the excitement of the Memorial Cup games for a very nominal fee," Schurman said.
Plans are also underway for a Family Fest in Hall "B" sponsored by the Irving Group. This area will feature a display area featuring National Hockey League trophies, including the Stanley Cup. There will be a historical display of hockey artifacts presented by a group headed by local historian Ron Leger. Again there will be a very minimal admission price.
