Mekai Sanders to be Instructor at T-Birds Skills Camp

KENT - Seattle Thunderbirds forward Mekai Sanders will be an instructor at the T-Birds Skills Camp taking place at accesso ShoWare Center from August 5-9 and August 12-16.

Sanders, from Gig Harbor, was signed by the T-Birds on June 18, 2018. He played two years of minor hockey with the Seattle Junior Association and two years of minor hockey with the Sno-King Hockey Association. Future T-Birds taking part as instructors will be announced in the coming weeks.

The annual Skills Camp will consist of four groups. There are three youth groups: Group A for 6-8 year-olds, Group B for 9-11 year-olds and Group C for 12 year-olds and up. There will also be an Adult Group for players 18-years-old and older.

All sessions for the 2019 Seattle Thunderbirds Skills Camp will take place at the accesso ShoWare Center and will use the Thunderbirds locker throughout the camp.

Players taking part in both weeks of the Skills Camp can get half off the price of the second week if they sign up for the first week.

Both the Youth and Adult Camps will consist of:

- One and a half hours of on ice instruction per day of the camp.

- Puck Handling Drills

- Open ice & traffic Drills

- Power skating; focusing on technique, speed & agility;

- Shooting techniques and shot selection

- Defensive/Offensive positioning and theory

- Body protection, checking and safety (12+)

- Small space games and fun for all ages.
