Meet the Sliders at Clearview Mall on Saturday, March 10

Slippery Rock, PA - Warmer temperatures, melting snow, and the start of Major League Baseball spring training are all signs that baseball is just around the corner, not only for the Pittsburgh Pirates, but also the area's newest team, the Slippery Rock Sliders. Fans will be able to get a preview of the 2007 season as representatives from the Sliders will be at Clearview Mall in Butler on Saturday, March 10.

The Sliders are partnering with the Keystone Tall Tree Girl Scout Council on Girl Scout Day at Clearview Mall. The Keystone Tall Tree Girl Scout Council will be present from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm for a free event that includes Troop Activity Tables, Girl Scout cookies for sale, display of Girl Scout banners, Girl Scout recruitment table, adult volunteer table, program information table, Trainers table, Information on CORE camp and Alliance Resident Camps, and various entertainments.

The Sliders will be present to help promote the three Girl Scout events during the 2007 season. Ballgames on Tuesday, June 21 (7:05 pm start); Sunday, July 22 (6:05 pm start); and Wednesday, August 22 (12:05 pm start) have been designated as Girl Scout Days, with special ticket packages and activities available for area Girl Scouts.

In addition, Sliders general manager Steve Tahsler and players Tony Marciante and Eric Bonds will be present to meet fans, sign autographs, and discuss the upcoming season. Marciante will be present from noon to 2:00 pm with Bonds in attendance from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm.

The Slippery Rock Sliders are a unique partnership between the Frontier League and Slippery Rock University with student interns holding most of the traditional front office positions and academic coursework directly integrated into the start-up of the club. The Sliders will begin their inaugural season on Wednesday, May 23, at the Washington Wild Things. The home opener will be on Tuesday, May 29, against the Florence Freedom. 32 home games will be at Jack Critchfield Park on the campus of Slippery Rock University.
