
'Meet the Kernels Night' on April 1st

March 26, 2008 - The Cedar Rapids Kernels will hold their annual âMeet the Kernels' night on Tuesday, April 1st starting at 5:00 pm.
A ballpark-style all you can eat and drink package is included in the $10 ticket price. Children 12 and under can get in for just $5.
The evening will feature a scrimmage between the Kernels and Kirkwood Community College. The game starts at 5:30 pm and will continue until 7 pm. Kernels' manager Keith Johnson will introduce the team and talk briefly about the upcoming season.
The 2008 Kernels will mix and mingle with fans on the concourse after the program until 8 pm, which is when the all you can eat food and beverage ends.
The party then moves to the Main Concourse as local band Bad Habits will be on hand to entertain fans from 8 until 11 pm. A cash bar will be available.
Meet the Players Night tickets, as well as tickets to all 70 Kernel home games, are available through the Kernels Ticket Office and Bimm Ridder Diamond Shop. Hours are 10 am to 5 pm, Monday thru Friday and 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday. Credit card orders can be placed by calling (319) 896-7560 during the above hours.
The event will be held rain or shine. In the event the scrimmage is postponed due to weather or wet grounds, the festivities will move to the suite level at Dale and Thomas Popcorn Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
The Kernels open the 2008 season on the road at Clinton on Thursday, April 3rd. The home opener is Monday, April 7th at noon, sponsored by KCRG TV-9 and The Gazette against the Quad City River Bandits. Fans can enjoy a Lunch at the Ballpark special of all you can eat hamburgers, hot dogs, peanuts and chips for just $7, plus the cost of a ticket, presented by 104.5 KDAT, 2008 magnet schedules, courtesy of Mercy Medical Center, will also be passed out through the entire opening homestand (April 7-16).
