Medlock\'s Off To Carolina League; Dragons top pitcher moved to Potomac

Dayton, OH– RHP Calvin Medlock, the Dragons top pitcher in 2004 has earned a promotion. The '04 MWL All-star has been promoted by the Cincinnati Reds and will be a Potomac Cannon. In 22 appearances with the Dragons, 15 as a starter, Medlock posted an 8-3 record and a stellar 2.57 ERA in 94.2 innings pitched. He struck out a team best 111 and walked only 21. In addition to losing Medlock, the Dragons have placed Jeremiah Piepkorn on the DL retroactive to July 11th with appendicitis. Piepkorn a non drafted free agent out of North Dakota State appeared in 28 games for Dayton, batting .168 with 1 HR and 9 RBI.

The newest Dragon to join the pitching staff is LHP Anthony Boughner, who was signed by the Reds from the Schaumberg Flyers of the independent Northern League. The southpaw, originally signed by the Baltimore organization, put up outstanding numbers with the Flyers, posting a 7-1 record in 10 starts with a 2.09 ERA. The Beallsville, Ohio product struck out 53 and walked only seven in 73.1 innings of work in 2004 and was named the Northern League's pitcher of the month for June. He will be in uniform when the Dragons open a three game series at South Bend beginning July 14th.
