Media Roster Set for 10th Annual Blowfish/Media Softball Game Saturday
July 30, 2015 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain)
Lexington County Blowfish News Release
Lexington County, SC- The Blowfish announced the media roster for the Annual Blowfish/Media Softball Game that will be played this Saturday August 1st at the Lexington County Baseball Stadium.
The Media Stars opponent will be the Blowfish pitching staff. Head Coach Jonathan Johnson said, "Our pitchers are looking forward to being a part of this exciting summer classic and also getting an opportunity to hit." (The Blowfish pitchers will be asked to hit from the opposite of their natural side).
The Media are sprinkled with some crafty veterans which include starting pitcher Joe Pinner (aka Mr. Knozit) and back to back MVP Mary King. King's defensive highlights as catcher have awed the crowds the past two years. Rick Henry returns after sitting out last year's game as negotiations came to an impasse after a contract could not be finalized. "All I asked for was an extra hot dog with onions and chili" Henry exclaimed, " but I guess ownership felt the chili was a little over the top and hence-the deciding factor." Henry is excited to return and bring the big bat he continues to promise that will make the difference in the Media's chance of securing a win. Henry says he learned his lesson with those extraordinary demands in bonuses like asking for the chili and is just happy to be back on the field!
WACH Fox brings some heavy hitters to bolster the lineup with classic singles hitter Joe Polek will work to get in scoring position to have the big bopper Courtney King go deep!
Radio will play a major role in how the Media defense protects the holes with speedster Benji Norton looking to cop some bases as well as fill in the gaps as rover with his incredible glove. Gary David, Rob Sanders and Mike Willis will be holding down the remaining outfield positions looking to do whatever it takes to keep the ball in play.)
Newspaper and social media provide the old and new as Chris Dearing will provide stability as designated hitter and Thomas Grant will "cover all the bases"--from the dugout!
The final roster spots are truly the key to a win or a loss with Brindy McNair, Tom Lanahan, Allen Wallace, and Ali O'Hara looking to shore up the bullpen as Pinner has been known to throw wild and get himself in trouble in the early innings.
Be prepared for some surprises with the media roster as Media Head Coach and Blowfish broadcaster Jordan Kuhns continues to reach out to more local media stars. So get ready for some possible additions to the roster.
