Lexington County Blowfish News Release
Thomasville, N.C. (July 29, 2015) -- A desperate team in need of wins came away with a win they so very badly needed. The High Point-Thomasville HiToms snapped a six-game losing streak, keeping their playoff hopes alive with a 13-1 victory over the Lexington County Blowfish on Wednesday night.

As has been tradition over the past several games, the Blowfish struck first. A sacrifice fly by Reed Gray (Lander University) scored J.D. Crowe (Francis Marion), who reached on an error in the second inning. The Blowfish would leave the bases loaded in that frame, opening the door for the opposition.
Three separate four-run outbursts by the HiToms continually put the Blowfish in a deeper hole. The HiToms would blast three home runs--two-run shots from Peter Johnson and Sam Roberson, combined with a solo shot by Drew Ellis, would ultimately be the undoing of the Blowfish on this night.
Johnson finished this night 3-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored. Nick Lopez scored a game-high three runs for the HiToms.
The HiToms proved efficient offensively. Only four runners were left on base throughout the course of the night.
The hard-charging, desperate home team seemingly could not be stopped. Only twice were they retired in order. Once in a traditional fashion, as Avery Greer (University of North Georgia) would allow no runs, hits, nor errors in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Any semblance of a rally was stifled by reliever Will Greene, who entered his third game of the season. Over his three innings, he allowed two hits, and struck out three. HiToms pitching struck out nine batters. They would allow a grand total of five hits.
Adam Derouen started his first game for High Point-Thomasville, pitched a quality start, and picked up the win, his first of the season.
After leaving the bases loaded in the second inning, only two Blowfish baserunners would advance into scoring position. Neither would score.
Up next for the Blowfish is round 15 of 16 against the Florence RedWolves, an opponent that the Lexington County Blowfish have taken three of the last four against. Join the broadcast of all of the live action from Cormell Field at Sparrow Stadium starting at 6:50 p.m. on Z93.1 FM The Lake, and on the Blowfish Baseball mobile app.
