Mechanics Get Their Wish

FRASER, MI- The Motor City Mechanics, proud members of the United Hockey League (UHL) are pleased to announce the signing of returning Center, Chris Gignac.

Gignac, 31, pronounced Gee-ne-ack, returns for his first full season in the Mechanics jersey. Last season Gignac played in just 27 games but recorded 29 points (pts) including 10 goals (g) and 18 penalty minutes (PIM).

Prior to the 2004-05 season, Gignac's best season came in 1999-00 when he played in 59 games for the Toledo Storm of the ECHL. In those 59 games, Gignac recorded 33g and 56a, for 89pts, all career highs.

"Chris performed well in the short time he was here," said Mechanics Head Coach, Danton Cole. "He's an excellent puck handler and makes players around him better."

The Mechanics now have three players signed for the 2005-06 season. All-Star Defenseman, Kevin Hansen and former Michigan State Spartan Defenseman, Chris Bogas are both under contract for the upcoming season.

The Mechanics open the 2005-06 season October 21st when they visit the Missouri River Otters and come join the Mechanics when they open up at home against the Kalamazoo Wings on Friday October 28th.
