
Mechanics Fall to IceHogs 6-5 In Shootout

FRASER, MI-Ten goals were scored in regulation, however, that was not enough to decide a 5-5 game and the IceHogs scored four shootout goals and win 6-5 tonight in front of 1,997 fans.
Adam Edinger started the scoring at 4:27 followed up by a Vlad Serov goal just 28 second later. The IceHogs would respond with two of their own to tie before the Mechanics took a 3-2 lead into the intermission off of a goal by Peter Szabo.
The IceHogs beat the Mechanics in the second by scoring two unanswered goals to take a 4-3 lead heading into the second intermission.
Chris Gignac and Kris Vernarsky scored for the Mechanics giving them a 5-4 lead but the IceHogs tied the game at 5-5 with 10:20 left in the game, thus forcing a shootout.
In the shootout four IceHogs scored to just two Mechanics giving them the 6-5 win. Rod Branch made his 54th start in net and made 27 saves in the shootout loss.
The Mechanics return home tomorrow to face the Roanoke Valley Vipers, face-off is 7:30 PM. Tomorrow also features Molly McMaster who will be suiting up and taking the first shift of the game to help raise awareness for Colon Cancer.
