Mechanics Acquire Rookie From Elmira

FRASER, MI- The Motor City Mechanics are pleased to announce the acquisition of rookie Forward, David Herring from the Elmira Jackals in exchange for Veteran Forward, Konstantin Kalmikov.

Herring, 21, entered his first pro season with the Jackals playing in 12 games. Through those 12 games Herring has compiled 6 points (3 goals, 3 assists).

Before playing three games with the Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL in 2004-05, Herring played his junior hockey for the OHL's Erie Otters. Through four seasons Herring compiled 22 goals, 35 assists for 57 points in 216 games played.

In 2001-02 with the Erie Otters, Herring was part of the OHL Championship team. Herring played in 17 playoff games recording 1 point and 27 PIM's.

In exchange for Herring, the Mechanics send to the Jackals Veteran Forward, Konstantin Kalmikov. Kalmikov tallied 12 points (5 goals, 7 assists) through 19 games.

The Mechanics return home on Saturday December 10th to face the Quad City Mallards. Saturday also marks the 2nd annual teddy bear toss, as all fans are encouraged to bring a new teddy bear or stuffed animal and throw it on the ice when the Mechanics score their first goal. All of the bears will then be donated to the Toys For Tots organization. ALL YOUTH HOCKEY KIDS CAN GET INTO SATURDAYS GAME FREE WITH THE DONATION OF A TEDDY BEAR!
