EDENTON, NC - The Edenton Steamers of the Coastal Plain League announce today that catcher/infielder Wes Meadows has been named the CPL Rawlings Hitter of the Week for week seven of action.

The 5-11, 200-pound junior from Otterbein University in the Ohio Athletic Conference, made six starts during the week of July 9th through July 15th for the Steamers and batted .591, going 13 for 22 during that period. Meadows led the league with his 13 hits and added four doubles and a home run. He drove in four runs while scoring five for the Steamers and he finished the week in the top five of six different offensive categories, including leading slugging percentage at .909 and on-base percentage at .627.

Meadows becomes the third Steamer this season to earn Hitter of the Week honors behind Michael Camporeale in week three and Jason Kanzler in week five. He is the 26th Edenton Steamer position player to be named a CPL Hitter of the Week and the 43rd Edenton Steamer player to be recognized as a CPL Player of the Week in franchise history, dating back to the Steamers' inaugural season in 1998.

The Edenton Steamers are a proud member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 16th season in 2012, the CPL features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts. Furthermore, the CPL has had over 1,000 alumni drafted and 52 alums - including 2011 AL MVP and Cy Young winner Justin Verlander - make their Major League debut thus far.
