Forest City Owls News Release
Florence, SC- Nick Lomascolo spun seven shutout innings as the Forest City Owls beat the Florence RedWolves 1-0 on Wednesday night. It's the second consecutive scoreless outing for the third-year Owl. Hunter Privette and Jake Padgett each pitched a scoreless inning, with Padgett getting his 7th save.
Forest City's lone run came against Florence starter Cory Bafidis in the 5th inning. Bryan Aanderud led it off with a double and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Dykota Spiess. Kurt Seiders followed it up with a base hit, scoring Aanderud. It was the only mark on Bafidis' line as he and Lomascolo combined for 15 strikeouts in 14 innings. Lomascolo racked up eight K's, matching the team-high set by Ryan Tezak last week.
The RedWolves had few chances to score early in the game, but failed to capitalize. Florence had runners on second and third with one out in the 3rd inning against Lomascolo. Connor Bright grounded out to second base with the infield pulled in. Then, Anthony Cheky was caught straying off second base to end the inning. Lomascolo also worked out of a jam with runners on the corners and two outs in the 6th inning with a strikeout.
The Owls play host to the Martinsville Mustangs in the start of a home-and-home series tomorrow night. It will be a Thirsty Thursday game with discounts on all beverages.
