Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
Albuquerque Isotopes slugger Dallas McPherson has been named to the Topps Triple-A All-Star Team, an accolade annually selected by the baseball card manufacturer in conjunction with Minor League Baseball. The complete team is included as a pdf attachment.
McPherson enjoyed a dazzling campaign in Albuquerque in 2008, leading Minor League Baseball with 42 home runs, winning the Joe Bauman Minor League Roundtripper Award in the process, while ranking second in the Pacific Coast League in runs with 94 and extra-base hits with 67. Late last June, McPherson tied a PCL and Minor League Baseball record by homering in seven straight games.
In addition to his Minor League Baseball recognition, McPherson ended the 2008 season being named to the All-PCL team as selected by League managers and media, while also earning team MVP and PNM Power Hitter awards by vote of his teammates.
McPherson's exploits in Albuquerque earned him a September call-up to the Florida Marlins, where he appeared in 11 games, two starts, batting .182 (2-for-11) with two doubles and three runs scored.
The Topps Triple-A All-Star Team recognizes the best in the Triple-A classification at each position including Designated Hitter, right-handed pitcher, left-handed pitcher, and relief pitcher. McPherson was singled out as the squad's DH, as seven of the team's nine offensive players were representatives of the PCL.
The Albuquerque Isotopes, Triple-A partner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, will open up their 2009 campaign on April 9 and season tickets as well as mini-plans are on sale now. For more information, please call (505) 924-2255 or visit www.albuquerquebaseball.com.
