(BUFFALO, NY) – The Arena Football League announced today Buffalo Destroyers QB Fred McNair was named Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in guiding the Destroyers to first place in the Eastern Division with their 52-45 win at New Jersey Sunday.

McNair was 19 of 35 for 306 yards and a season high six touchdowns. It was also his 13th career 300-yard passing game. McNair extended his streak of pass attempts without an interception to 127.

"I'm very happy to win this award considering how many outstanding players there are in the league, to be singled out for my performance is exciting," said McNair. "I have to give credit to our line who gave me plenty of time to throw and to our receivers who do a great job of running their routes and getting open."

McNair, who picks up his second career Player of the Week award, is fourth in the league in pass rating at 114.4 and tenth overall in passing yards averaging 239.6 per game.

"This was Fred's best game of the year," said Destroyers head coach and general manager Ray Bentley. "He's been practicing real well. His preparation is what enabled him to have that kind of performance."

McNair, who has 18,754 career passing yards, needs only 180 yards to move into fifth place on the AFL's all-time passing yards list. McNair is in the top seven all-time in the AFL in attempts (6th at 2,515), completions (7th at 1,470) and touchdown passes (7th at 330). He needs only six more attempts to move into fifth place all-time and two more completions to move into sixth place all-time.

McNair is a seasoned AFL veteran (eight seasons in the league; Albany 1993-95; Florida 1996, 98-00 and Carolina 2000-01). He holds almost all of Florida's passing records and also holds all of Carolina's passing records. McNair and company host the Arizona Rattlers Friday, June 28 at 7:30 PM at the HSBC Arena.
