Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release

COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Pensacola Ice Flyers (25-17-4) secured a 3-0 win over the Columbus Cottonmouths (17-22-7) thanks to goals from three different players and a 26-save performance from goalie John McLean as McLean earned his first professional shutout.

Josh Cousineau opened the scoring with his eighth goal of the season and fourth as an Ice Flyer with 3:20 left in the first period. The goal was assisted by Corey Banfield and Brandon Zurn. Joe Caveney doubled the Ice Flyers' lead to 2-0 just 53 seconds into the second period when he took a feed from Drew Baker and put the puck past Columbus' Shannon Szabados. Baker had the lone assist on the goal.

Joey Holka put the game even more out of reach when he made it 3-0 with 2:24 remaining in regulation. Stephen Buco and Charlie Adams assisted on Holka's first goal since returning to the Ice Flyers.

McLean stopped all 26 Columbus shots and picked up his 14th win of the season. Pensacola swept the Three Stars with Holka being the third star, Cousineau second, and McLean first.

The Ice Flyers will return to the Pensacola Bay Center next weekend for a three-in-three series with the Peoria Rivermen. Friday night will be Faith and Family Night, Saturday the Ice Flyers will host Tampa Bay Lightning/Jr. Ice Flyers Fundraising Night, and Sunday will be Snowbirds Night. Puck drop for the Friday and Saturday matchups is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. while Sunday is scheduled for a 4:05 p.m. faceoff.
