Sioux Falls, SD--Team captain, Jim McKenzie was named Most Valuable Player at the 2004 USHL Prospects/All-Star Game Tuesday night after leading Team USHL to a 4-3 overtime win. McKenzie scored two goals including the overtime game-winner. McKeznie's second tally of the night capped off and amazing comeback for Team USHL who trailed 3-0 midway through the third period.

"Even when we were down 3-0, we honestly felt like we had pretty decent control of the game, but their goalies were standing on their heads," said McKenzie, a Woodbury, MN native.

McKenzie scored the first goal and last goal for Team USHL, with goals from River City's Brett Motherwell and Danville's Bryan Marshall in between.

"I was at the end of my shift so I was really tired, "McKenzie said. "But I saw a turnover and the possibility for a two-on-one so I just skated as hard as I could and Bill Thomas slid a great pass across to me."

McKenzie is currently the Stampede's leading scorer with 44 points (19g, 25a) and fourth overall in the USHL. Paul Stastny of River City presently leads the league in scoring with 50 points (19g, 31a).

McKenzie's MVP award marked the third time in five years that a Stampede player has been named the game's Most Valuable Player.
