McKenna Puts up Six Points in Canada's Win over Kazakhstan

McKenna puts up six points in Canada's win over Kazakhstan

Vantaa, FIN - A finally tune-up before the Quarter-Finals for Team Canada & Gavin McKenna at the World U18's in Finland would see the Red & White come away with a dominate 11-3 victory over Kazakhstan Tuesday.

Despite an early 1-1 tie in the first period, Canada would finally get their bearings and continue their dominate offence leading to two unanswered goals to end the first making it 3-1. McKenna would set-up Maxim Massé on the power play with less than three minute left in the opening period.

The scoring would continue for Canada into the second as McKenna would notch his 5th goal of the tournament making it 7-1 late in the second, part of a five goal second for the Canadians leading 8-1 heading to the third.

Kazakhstan would add two more goals in the third night but Canada would finish the preliminary round a perfect 4-0 heading to the quarter-finals on Thursday morning. McKenna finished the game with six points, (two goals, four assists in the win) now up to five goals and eight assists in the tournament. One point shy of tying Tyson Jost's record for the all-time Canadian record. Including a third period tally.

Canada will face Latvia in the Quarter-Finals at 10:30 AM / MT. You can watch the game live on TSN.
