PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (June 14, 2015) - Kevin McGowan dominated Palm Beach as the St. Lucie Mets came back to beat the Cardinals 5-2 on Sunday at Tradition Field.

McGowan pitched a season-high eight innings. He limited the Cardinals to four hits and two unearned runs. McGowan did not walk a batter and struck out four.

Dominic Smith led the way at the plate by going 4 for 4. He delivered a go-ahead two-run double in the sixth to put the Mets up 3-2. Smith went 3 for 5 in Saturday's win.

Jeff Glenn added a solo home run in the seventh and Victor Cruzado put the Mets up 5-2 with an RBI double in the eighth.

The Mets took two out of three in the series and are now one game back over .500 at 32-31.

The Mets jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the third. Matt Oberste and Smith had back-to-back hits. Amed Rosario drove in Oberste with a ground out.

The Cardinals took a 2-1 lead in the fourth. Miakis De La Cruz misplayed a single by Casey Turgeon to the wall and Jimmy Bosco scored to tie the game. Turgeon scored from third to put the Cardinals in front on a ground out by Robelys Reyes.

The 2-1 lead for the Cardinals lasted until the sixth. Brandon Nimmo and De La Cruz were walked by Cody Schumacher. After Oberste struck out, Smith ripped a two-run double to put the Mets up 3-2.

That was enough for McGowan, who at one point retired 12 in a row. He worked around a leadoff double by Derek Gibson in the eighth.

Akeel Morris struck out two batters in a scoreless ninth to earn his 13th save.

The Mets hit the road to Clearwater on Monday. First pitch at the Threshers comes at 7 p.m.
