Jupiter Hammerheads News Release
JUPITER, FL - Acquired in the Miami Marlins' deal of Hanley Ramirez to the Los Angeles Dodgers, RHP Scott McGough has been activated and added to the Jupiter Hammerheads roster. In a corresponding move, RHP Arquimedes Caminero has been transferred to Double-A Jacksonville.
McGough, 22, was the Dodgers' fifth-round selection in the 2011 Draft out of the University of Oregon. He has gone 3-5, 3.99 with five saves in 35 relief appearances with single-A Rancho Cucamonga this season. McGough had 48 strikeouts in 47.1 innings. He made his pro debut in 2011 and was a combined 1-5, 2.77 with 10 saves in 26 games.
Caminero joins the Jacksonville Suns after amassing a 1-0 record with a 0.44 ERA in 19 appearances for Jupiter. He struck out 27 batters in 20.2 innings pitched. Signed by the Marlins as a non-drafted free agent in 2005, Camiero will make his Double-A debut after battling various injuries over the past few seasons.
The Hammerheads open a four-game series against the Clearwater Threshers Thursday night at Roger Dean Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
