
McGonigle Earns First OHL Win as Rangers Shutout Petes 2-0

The slow start in the first period witnessed last Sunday in Mississauga re-appeared tonight when the Peterborough Petes visited The Aud. The difference tonight being Chris McGonigle.
McGonigle making his regular season debut on home ice slammed the door on the Petes turning aside 18 shots in the first period on his way to a 32 save effort and his first OHL shutout in only his third game of his young career.
The scoreless first period saw the Petes outshooting the Rangers 18-7.
The game remained scoreless until of 4:38 mark of the second period when Jacob Cascagnette converted a cross-crease pass from Jake Henderson into a wide open net.
Adam Mascherin continued to display his shooting skills when he lifted the Rangers to a 2-0 lead on a hard wrist shot through a Pete's defender's legs and past a screen Dylan Wells at 16:77. The Rangers took over the shot clock with a 14 -6 margin when the period ended.
The third period was scoreless with the Rangers holding a 9-8 margin in shots.
Shots on goal were 9-8 Rangers in the third period for a game total of 32-30 in favour of the Petes.
Kitchener was1-for-6 on the power play, while Peterborough was 0-for-3 with the man advantage.

Cascagnette (KIT) (3), Mascherin (KIT) (2), and McGonigle (KIT) (1) were selected as the Three Stars of the Game.
The Rangers are back in action Sunday, October 30, when they host the Saginaw Spirit, at 2:00pm.
