McGee Enters Gates as Knighthawks' Millionth Fan

(Rochester, January 24th)... During the Rochester Knighthawks' home opener, two lucky patrons won the chance to explore the glamorous city of Las Vegas. Churchville's Matt McGee was the one millionth fan to walk through the gates since the inception of the Knighthawks in 1995. McGee has been a season ticket holder for five years and has had the pleasure of visiting Vegas previously before.

"I was in disbelief. We were half heartily joking before the game that we were going to win. It was a surreal moment," said McGee when he found out he was indeed the millionth fan.

McGee was approached by President Lewis Staats and Vice President of Marketing Bob Hathaway to award McGee a trip for two to the "Sin City" with free hotel and airfare, and $2,000 spending money. In addition McGee was given a commemorative Knighthawks jersey with the number 1 and the name as "millionth." McGee and his wife will enjoy all the entertainment options available to them. "I enjoy gambling and attending all the shows," said McGee.

Schuyler Daugherty from Rochester was the next lucky contestant who won the trip to Vegas. Sky won the raffle which was drawn between the third and fourth quarter after the millionth fan was selected.

"I was still hopeful after the millionth fan was selected because I knew I still had a chance in the raffle. I felt like I was dreaming and I am very excited to explore the Vegas Strip," said Daugherty.

This weekend the Knighthawks play back-to-back games in Toronto against the Rock this Friday January 27th and in Colorado in a west coast matchup against the Mammoth on Saturday January 28th. Both games will be broadcast live on Sportsradio 950 ESPN and www.sportsradio950espn.com.

Rochester's next home game is set for February 4th at 7:30 p.m. against the Minnesota Swarm at Blue Cross Arena. The first 3,000 fans will take home a Chris Schiller bobblehead. The Urology Associates of Rochester will hold their annual Men's Health Night. Fans can bid on special game-worn jerseys on www.gobuyrochester.com.
