Colorado Mammoth News Release

DENVER - The National Lacrosse League announced today that Mammoth forward John Grant Jr. has been named the league's Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, and teammate Adam Jones is the NLL's Rookie of the Week for Week #3. Both players had huge offensive performances in Colorado's wins in Edmonton and Calgary this past weekend.

"John continues to impress me, and Adam is quickly making a name for himself in the NLL," said Mammoth head coach Bob Hamley. "They were exceptional in both games."

In Edmonton on Friday, Grant scored the game-tying goal with less than four minutes remaining in the 4th quarter, and followed with the game-winner with 14.5 seconds left. He finished with nine points. Meanwhile, Jones registered five goals and three assists, including a helper on Grant's game-winner.

On Saturday night, Grant tacked on another ten points (4G, 6A), the third being the 1,000th of his career. Jones had three goals and three assists, including the final two scores in regulation to send the game to overtime. In the extra frame, Prout's game-winner was assisted by the two award-winners.

"It feels great," said Jones, when asked about being named Rookie of the Week. "It definitely wasn't an expectation of mine, to win an award like that. At the same time, it's a good feeling."

The Mammoth will honor Grant for his 1,000th career point at the team's next home game this Saturday, January 28 as Colorado plays host to the Rochester Knighthawks on HealthONE Field at Pepsi Center. Tickets are on sale now at the Pepsi Center box office, all Colorado Dick's Sporting Goods retail kiosks, online at TicketHorse.com, or by calling 303.53.HORSE.
