
McDade, Goins and Diaz Have Two Hits Each But Mets Rally Past Fisher Cats

New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
(Manchester, NH)---Chad Jenkins allowed two earned runs in 5.2 innings and Mike McDade and Ryan Goins each had two hits, but Binghamton rallied for a 9-2 win over the Fisher Cats in the opener of a four-game series on Thursday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
New Hampshire scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning. John Tolisano doubled, moved to third on a balk, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Brad Glenn to put the Fisher Cats up 1-0.
Binghamton (15-17) tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the fifth inning. Juan Lagares singled, moved to third on an error, and scored on a groundout by Juan Centeno.
The Fisher Cats (13-19) put a run on the board in the last of the fifth to take a short-lived 2-1 lead. Jonathan Diaz (2-for-4, R) singled, moved to third on a single by Goins, and scored on a sacrifice fly by A. J. Jimenez.
The Mets moved in front for the first time in the sixth as four consecutive batters reached with two outs against Jenkins, who took the loss. Raul Reyes singled, Jefry Marte singled, Reese Havens walked and Lagares drilled a two-run single for a 3-2 Met lead.
Binghamton added a run in the top of the seventh inning. Josh Rodriguez doubled and scored on a single by Raul Reyes to make 4-2.
The Mets sent ten men to the plate, scoring five times in the top of the ninth inning. Reyes (3-for-5, 3 RBI) had a two run single, Havens drove in two runs with a double and Eric Campbell added an RBI single.
Jenkins allowed three runs, two earned in 5.2 innings in his start for the Fisher Cats. He allowed six hits, walked two and struck out four.
Mets starter Zack Wheeler (2-2) worked five innings, allowing two runs on six hits. He walked one and struck out seven. Reliever Armando Rodriguez struck out five in two scoreless innings and Jeff Kaplan finished up for his first save. Binghamton pitchers combined to strike out 15 Fisher Cats in the contest.
The series with the Mets continues on Friday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. An Atlas Fireworks Show follows the 6:35pm contest.
